Derrick opened Supporting Strategies | Tucson, AZ, in 2021 — an extension of his commitment to cultivating the roots he established in the Sonoran Desert during his four years at the University of Arizona. He decided to “Bear Down” by starting a local business dedicated to helping other local businesses. He understands that ultimately he will be only as successful as the clients he serves.
Derrick’s experience at UArizona (he’s still tempted to call it UA at times) profoundly shaped his outlook on life, on education and on the concept of “paying it forward.” He remains closely aligned with both the university and the Phi Theta Kappa organization, as he provides mentoring for current students. He also mentors high school students and provides tutoring assistance at Chloe Preparatory Academy as well as through the Goodwill METRO program.
