Laura has deep experience in both public and private financial management. As a school district Comptroller she was responsible for all financial transactions, including cash and debt management, tax collection and audits. She also ensured compliance with all federal, state and education agency regulations. Her department was recognized for creating financial transparency in a public database.
Earlier in her career Laura was a Controller at an international carrier company where, in addition to all aspects of the company's accounting and finances, she managed HR matters and coordinated job safety procedures to minimize workplace safety risks. Prior to that, she worked as a Controller (managing a staff-of-10 accounting resource for a chain of convenience stores) and as a Forensic Staff Accountant at a regional CPA firm. More recent specialties include automating QuickBooks Enterprise and online retail sales to sync using multiple third-part applications. Implemented advanced inventory system for client for wholesale and retail inventory systems.
Laura has a BA in Business Administration and a Master of Accountancy from Texas A&M University—Corpus Christi.
