Starr is a versatile, detail-oriented professional with experience in both public and private accounting. Her core competencies include accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, intercompany account reconciliations, cost and accrual accounting, internal and external auditing, internal controls, and month-end and year-end closing processes.
Before becoming a member of the Supporting Strategies team, Starr served as a Senior Associate with a public accounting firm. She provided a variety of bookkeeping and compilation services for more than 25 small to mid-sized business clients in industries such as construction, oil, medical and real estate. In an earlier stint with the same firm, she was a Staff Auditor/Accountant.
As an Accountant/Bookkeeper for a masonry contractor, Starr entered a large volume of transaction data using QuickBooks Contractor Edition and prepared and filed all appropriate federal and state payroll tax forms, among other responsibilities. She launched her professional career as an Office Manager/Bookkeeper for a community development corporation.
Starr earned her Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting at the University of Houston-Downtown.
