Kent Palmer has been the Business Librarian at Naperville Public Library since June, 2012, and coordinates the business services mission which focuses on financial literacy, job search support and new business development. He is also the coordinator of NaperLaunch, a new business startup services center.
Kent is a frequent presenter at local job service providers such as the Community Career Center and the St. Thomas the Apostle Jobs Ministry. He is also the principal instructor at the NaperLaunch Academy. Kent is a member of the marketing committee of the Naperville Development Partnership and a member of a special task force of the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce dealing with workforce development issues.
Kent worked previously in the property casualty insurance business, where he held claims, underwriting, marketing and executive positions with several national insurance companies and brokers. He also operated his own agency for a short time. Kent earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management with a focus in Marketing from Brigham Young University. He has lived in Illinois for the past 24 years and obtained his Master of Library & Information Science degree from the University of Illinois at Champaign Urbana. His librarian career was launched in December 2010.
